Thief

I've felt kind of sick recently, but today I figured I would courageously go the gym (since I'm feeling a tad better). Upon searching for my iPod--and by search I mean tear apart my room for half an hour--I came to the conclusion that it MUST have been stolen off my desk. So I texted my parents to inform them of this tragedy (unfortunately I would have to redo my Christmas list to make room for a new one, or at least something that plays music). I also informed Rachel that she better watch her stuff because someone is coming in and stealing stuff (even though that iPod CLEARLY had "Megan Wernig" engraved in the back. As I sat down at my desk, very much depressed, I looked down into my American Eagle paper bag and the new boots that were inside. I bought these boots last week because I was hoping to get them for Christmas, so my mom will wrap them up at Thanksgiving. I pick up the boots to see if my iPod was under them (just for kicks) when I found it way in the toe of one of the boots! So pretty much, someone stole my iPod and hid it in my boot as a cruel joke, I'm pretty sure. Because that would have been lame on Christmas morning. Good because I found it, but pretty lame if I had already bought a new one.

Happy birthday to me!

My field hockey "friends" ;)
So for field hockey (some of us) we went to Fire & Ice for dinner the other night. I had never been and it was so good!!! "Glorified Gordon stir-fry" as Julie said... my dearest friends decided to tell them it was my birthday (I didn't know what was going on until the man called me into the middle and told everyone to "sing happy birthday to Megan." Of course, they had the camera ready! At least I got a free bag of chips out of it (Mindy and I managed to devour these even after two full plates of stir-fry).

Expectations

Faces blur, becoming instantly disposable. Colors fading
in and out along with names. New and unfamiliar origins
combine. Handshakes lose their meaning while eye contact
proves to no longer be of importance. Surrounded
by so many bodies, it feels unnatural to feel alone but this
unfamiliar notion of being nobody proves to be inevitable
as everyone is out to find their someone
and this chaotic sea of conversation
turns into a wave of exactly what you
hoped it wouldn’t be.

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine

Anna, Julie, and I went to the beach on Friday to see the sunrise at 7:23 exactly (well, I was a bit sluggish and it took a lot of effort to roll out of bed at such a time). It had been rainy the night before but we still went! (Thanks to Julie convincing me it would still be good).  I wore my Bogs, which happened to be a good decision until I decided to venture further out and was submerged underwater—then the little “handles” on the sides of my boots proved to be of no help. We thought Anna was kidnapped but she actually just went exploring (that’s when she found this “castle” and I found some tree stars from the Land Before Time!

I have free time now?

So field hockey ended last Saturday (which means no more grocery deliveries from my mom and Grammie, no more seeing people that I’ve seen everyday since August, and I need to start going to the gym…blah). Anyways, I got the BEST gift from my stick sister: trick-or-treat pumpkin bucket filled with candy (mostly kit kats which are my absolute favorite) and other stuff. I’ve actually just finished off the last of it tonight. I have also been listening to the CDs my stick sister made me. If only I knew who she was… I was 100% sure it was Mindy but I have reasons to doubt that now. We’ll find out at the banquet in December—should be interesting. So I thought I was ready for field hockey to end but now that it’s over I’m at as loss as to what I should do with all my free time. Study some more…? Sleep? Eat? Right now it’s a combination of the last two.
