Christmas catch-up

What has Megan been up to for the past week, you ask? Well I'll tell you. Megan has been celebrating the lovely day called Christmas (celebrating = eating artichoke spinach dip 'til she bursts, receiving and giving presents, lounging by the fire on Christmas Eve&Christmas Day& post-Christmas day). In addition to this Christmas hoopla, Megan has also resorted to being a hermit for 3+ days as she read The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay. Megan's friends and family were worried when they didn't see her emerge our of her basement cave/room during these ~72 hours. When she did arise from the depths, it was only to grab food and use the bathroom.

Here's a few pictures from the Christmas festivities! They mostly feature Rocket and his fat self:

Reasons why today has been wonderful:

- went out to breakfast with Monique & Victoria!
- worked at the preschool camp for a while, laughed at seriously everything the kids said today, then came home for lunch.
- watched What Not to Wear and Four Weddings
- visited SARAH and chatted with her (see previous post about Sarah & Olivia and my moping about never seeing them)
- opened my lovely gift from Olivia! Sarah got the bird and I got the cute little penguin!
Tiny picture from my phone
- went to the doctors for a follow-up about the headaches I had this summer (I haven't had many headaches, so I'm all clear for now!)
- bother my mom and Michael before finally going to Planet Fitness where I watched the History channel as I lazily/slowly biked for an hour and people-watched. Probably too relaxing for a gym trip.
- talked to Amy on the phone
- talked to Olivia on the phone to thank her for my gift and catch up!
- listened to the same songs over and over again because I can't take them off repeat. Here's a few of them:

Oh, and yesterday I Skyped with Anna and finished all my Christmas shopping with Monique in Portsmouth!!! So as you can see, I've pretty much see 80% of my friends in the past 2 days. Well, not really (I don't know why I said 80%) but I've loved talking with everyone :)

In the works:
- getting Coldplay tickets so Rachel and I can go see them in Boston on July 29, 2012! Might die of excitement.
- dragging my dad to the gym with me on Saturday because I have one free guest pass and he needs to see how buff I am (HAH)
- Christmas Eve services on Saturday!

Can you tell that I love lists?

Christmas break!

So far, I have successfully accomplished the following on Christmas break over the past 2 days:

- slept until 12 on Thursday... and Friday...
- seen Michael play at his band/chorus concert
- wasted time on my computer
- listened to my CD from Gayle about a million times! :)
- TRIED to generally plan out my classes, possible study abroad, and other random stuff (I'm thinking about graduating a semester early...)
- worked at the Youth Center for a few hours playing four square with middle school boys
- babysat my favorite kids!
- organized my closet
- worked out a Planet Fitness. Once.
- joined Pinterest (I have yet to figure out how this works, though)

As you can see, I've been super productive (sarcastic). Hopefully I don't continue my habit of sleeping for 12+ hours every night--I'm thinking that maybe if I write that here it will make it happen because then I don't look back at my old posts and think oh, great, I still sleep until 1pm every afternoon even though I have nothing that should be making me as sleepy as I currently am.

Planning my cross-country road trip

Today I'm missing some of my very best friends, Sarah & Olivia. They're both living in the little city of Provo, Utah, while I'm in some unheard of town in Mass for the next week (then I'll go home, and I have a feeling that NH will be even FARTHER away from them!). Only by a few hours though. And according to Mapquest, it will take me 36 hours and 52 minutes to see them if I start driving now, so what's a few more hours if I start driving from New Hampshire? It's also 2045.28 miles... so I guess I could start running there now (but only if I upload some better songs on my iPod... because the 5 Rihanna songs I listen to while I run might not do the trick on mile #2040.

I need to buy some new sneakers if I'm running there. Or a new car! (hopefully you're reading this, Mom)
Anyways, Olivia recently got married this summer in August (I'm not sure if I can find any pictures of us from this but I'll try...). So she's living in Provo with Dalin. Sarah's going to BYU, and she'll be home for Christmas!!! :) Here's some pictures of us throughout high school. I'll try to get you a picture of Olivia and me in middle school sometime, but no promises.

I just realized that Olivia is probably in the middle of our picture 99% of the time because she's so short and if she was on the side it would make the picture slightly offbalanced ;) Anyways, I miss them a lot!

Do you hear what I hear?

...just the sound of Megan chowing down candy and cookies as if she's not going to get any desserts AT ALL this Christmas season.

Thanksgiving break was great: ran errands with Mom and Emily, went to TJMaxx with Heather, Skyped with Amy (even though we were like 5 minutes away from each other), talked to Rachel, slept over at the grandparents', watched Netflix for hours, etc.

ALSO.... Gingerbread house construction with Monique & Gabe! I also got to meet "Beach Ball," Monique's guinea pig. It was an odd experience because he was quite mop-like but still weirdly cute with huge ugly bunny teeth.

My house!

14 more days until Christmas break! :)

Weekend excitement

1. La Vida reunion on Friday night. So. Funny. Seriously....I had terrible cramps from laughing so much. 2. I missed track on Saturday morning before I swear I was dying of the flu.
3. I briefly recovered from my flulike symptoms enough to go out to eat with Ashley and Mindy :)
4. Anna and I went to study on Saturday afternoon (yes, this is officially my third post in a row where I mention that I've studied). We spent the majority of our time grinning as we drank our matching Peppermint Mochas (romantic, right?). It was buy one get one free so of COURSE we got the largest size. This was great and all but I did feel a little sloshy after... too much. It was still delicious though.
Twins
Chocolate shavings on the top. NBD.
6. Tried to have a bonfire with Julie and her sister, Lisa. Sadly, it was sort of unsuccessful but still really fun. We then went to get donuts at Marty's which can always brighten up any evening.
7. Sunday was uneventful except for brief periods of church, napping, eating, and homeworking. The same goes for Monday until 5pm when.....
8. I GOT TO GO HOMEEEEEEE! My grandparents picked me up after class and we headed north to the great land of New Hampshire. I then feasted on a hearty meal and some apple crisp. After that was completed I rolled myself into the car and Mom and I came home to this:
A nineteen pound bundle of love and fur

Me gusta hablar en espaƱol

Following the trend here, I have a feeling that my next 93738 posts will be about my studying woes and how I'm about to die in various studying spots on or off campus. For example, right now I'm sitting on the floor of Barnes & Noble with my roommate, Victoria. After chugging my $5 Starbuck's chai tea latte in all of 2 minutes, my back is aching from leaning up against some odd-looking Wiccan books (which seem to be weirdly popular because customers keep stopping by and I have to awkwardly shuffle away on the carpeted floor). Anywhoodle (once again, I'm trying to make this catchy phrase work even though I can't say it in front of Anna or Julie anymore because they're just not having it), I'm spending my precious study time blogging about how I have no time and I'm working in the Writing Center tonight and I have to write this research paper and then my Tutoring paper and why am I an English major (?) and I HAVE A SPANISH EXAM TOMORROW MORNING. ¡QuĆ© divertido! ¡QuĆ© interesante!

¡AdiĆ³s!

Dying in the stacks

Julie and I will most likely become Rec. & Leisure majors, thanks to our Intro to English class. Because of this class, we now know that our previous ways of writing good theses are now out the window. Right now we are happily sitting in the third floor of the library. It looks like it's meant to be a children's room: lots of old children's books, alphabet posters along the ceiling, and a tattered world map. Not sure where this room came from and why we've never stumbled upon it before... Although I would like to say that we are working on our research projects (in addition to Facebook stalking, blogging, and awkwardfamilyphotos.com), we have yet to make any considerable amount of progress.

Autumn sounds better than FALL

Sometimes I forget how much I like this season. Mostly because I'm super opposed to cold weather but I love when the weather is crisp. I love apple picking, APPLE CIDER DONUTS, pumpkin carving/decorating, bright leaves. No offense Massachusetts, but all of these are better in New Hampshire--which is why today is so great because I'm home with Rocket, my mom, iced coffee, and Say Yes to the Dress. I've also been very enthusiastic about all the fall decorations at my house, so I just ran around the yard like a psycho trying to take pictures of everything.

Sunday (Actually, there was no sun. Just rain.)

Today I went to my first crew race and it looked exactly like a track meet except it was just a bunch of boys running around in uniforms that looked like gymnastics onesie things. So many tents and teams and sweatshirts and family members running around, it reminded me of my middle school cross country days. Actually... it just reminded me of track meets this past spring. Anyways, crew seems pretty cool. I thought it would be huge muscular guys the size of my dad (pretty big) in those boats but NO. I think they were all tall and skinny.

Random things from today:
- I typed "punkin" instead of "pumpkin," then realized I sometimes say it like PUNkin so that's probably why I wrote that.
- Guppy and Dalmatian-Fish keep sitting at the bottom of the tank (yes, they sit) and I think they might be sick or dehydrated (haha...).
- I've listened to Rihanna all day. The same songs on repeat.
- I want more people to have Twitters so then we can follow each other. Right now I have like 8 followers and I wish everyone I knew had one so it would be more exciting. Yes, I could just go on Facebook.
- I tried to pay for my meal in Lane today with my license AGAIN instead of my id card.
- Someone stole the cap off my toothpaste in the bathroom. Mindy doesn't think anyone would do this but I know it's a prank.
- I have a lot of work to do before tomorrow. Sigh.
- My grandparents took me out to lunch yesterday and it was delicious. They also gave me some food which is really great :) I've eaten a lot of it already because I was so excited about it.
- One of these days I might right a serious post but I'm not sure when (I mean, if you think THIS one is serious that's fine too).
- THIS IS POST #50!!!!! I'M A REAL BLOGGER NOW!
An example of how AWFUL Lane can be. That's why going out to eat with Grammie and Papa was so exciting!

Procrastination in the form of decorating

Instead of working on my horrid American Lit. essay right now, I'm going to show you about five thousand pictures of my room! Hooray. So on Sunday I woke up at ten, "cleaned" my room until twelve, had lunch, and decorated the crap outta my 20 square foot cubic space, stole Ashley's camera, and had a photo shoot with my clean room. Free time is my fav.

Tweet tweet

I'm a tweeter now. I mean I have a twitter. So I tweet things to my 3 friends that also have twitters. I mean I I've only tweeted once but I think that once I get better at this twitting business I think I might be the best tweeter ever because I always have lots to say about myself. #exciting #popularnow #sortaconfused #stickingtofacebook #shortestpostever

Depressing...

So this is depressing because I haven't posted anything in over a month which saddens me. How can I POSSIBLY write everything that's happened!?!?! Well I'll make a list of things that have occurred in no apparent order (except how they are poppin into my wee little head).

1. I had random a 3 week headache that appears to be gone...
2. I got my wisdom teeth out which was SO FUN!
Chipmunk: Day 1
BIG chipmunk: Day 2
3. We spent a week on the lake with my grandparents/other family (this was our 20th year doing that, I realized! So it was extra special)
4. My hair is pretty long now and I need a haircut.
5. Ummm I got back to school in ONE WEEK AND ONE DAY.
6. My college peeps are coming for Soulfest this Wednesday YAY!
7. My best friend, Olivia, came back from school (and I hadn't seen her since December! But of course I only have a week left here so we can barely see each other. But that's why Skype was invented, obviously).
8. Sarah and I hiked Mt. Major which was on our list of things to do!
9. I'm going to miss babysitting Avery while I'm at school! :( she's the best six year old ever.
10. Andrew and I went to Target and I bought a sweet now lamp and chair for school. My mom and and put together the chair but it doesn't seem to move up and down (as it should), and so you're pretty much just sitting on the floor. Also, after ripping all of the packaging apart and failing at the assembly bit, I see "weight limit: 150lbs" ....ummm what the heck. So I can barely sit in this. Or I can sit in it but I can't wear heavy clothes, I guess.
11. My dad and sister have been on the church mission trip all week so Michael and I rule the house. I mean I always did rule, but he's taken a larger role this week.
12. Last week of Camp-I-Can starts this Monday! Which is also sad, because I'll miss those kids too!
13. I'm excited to go back to school to see everyone! Not super excited for classes, but eh. I do have two English classes with Julie which will be just fabulous and my beginning spanish class should be... interesting.
14. Everyone seems to be getting married in the world.
15. Heather and I went to visit Mindy and Jeff at Old Orchard Beach a few days after I got my wisdom teeth out and still looked like a chipmunk.
16. I got an army green coat at American Eagle for $18, originally $70 (believe me, this is not a $70 coat). Such a good deal.
17. I saw Harry Potter twice! Once at midnight with Sarah and then the next week with my family. So good!
18. I need to be better at posting stuff. Sigh.

Sunrise last week on the lake!
