Day #39 in Orvieto

April 2, 2013 - Tuesday
I didn’t wake up to my alarm this morning (why am I so tired?!?!) so once again, I was rushing around in the morning. It was a struggle to eat the cornflakes this morning because I’m actually starting to get sick of them… although I hate to admit it. Class was pretty interesting today and class time passed quickly! Or at least it passed as quickly as possible, considering it’s a three-hour class…  In the middle of class, we looked out the window and saw that it suddenly started to pour, which was a little depressing. We had the usual chapter meeting and went to Locanda for lunch. It was so great to be back at Locanda and be able to eat with everyone! We didn’t eat there yesterday because they were still closed for Easter (that’s why we had bagged lunches yesterday). For lunch we had pasta (big surprise, I know) with red sauce, salad, and sausage. It was great, of course.
After lunch, I went to Blue Bar to use the wifi and send emails, upload pictures, type up a million blog posts. It's pretty rainy/cloudy today and I didn't feel like walking all the way to Blue Bar (keep in mind, it's like a 5 minute walk) but once I started walking, I realized how much I miss just walking down the main street! Since we are in the monastery alllllll morning, it's easy to forget that there are other places that exist. I ordered a cappuccino and the woman asked, "with sugar?" How do they ALWAYS know that I'm a fake?? I even tried my best pronunciation of "cappuccino, per favore" but they always know that I'm a fraud and they reply in English, such as with the "sugar?" part. Sigh. Maybe one day. Even when I say "grazie" and then they reply with "you're welcome." Seriously, they always know.

After spending the entire afternoon in Blue Bar, I went back home to read and write my essay for the night. We are going to Florence on Thursday, Arezzo on Friday, and Siena on Saturday this week so we've been in the midst of planning for that! So tomorrow is my last day of class for the week. :) Although technically our field trips to those towns are all for class, it'll be way better than sitting in a classroom all morning!

I forgot to post this picture yesterday but it was above the entryway to the Capuchin monastery gardens:
"I lift up my eyes to the mountains - where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth" - Psalm 121
