Day #74 in Orvieto

May 7, 2013 – Tuesday
Today was a pretty average day in terms of class, chapter meeting, lunch, and afternoon activities. Jenna and I went to Blue Bar for the majority of the afternoon to use the Internet and talk for a while. Before dinner, we went out to Barrique (another coffee place) with everyone to hang out some more and celebrate Rebekah’s birthday, which is tomorrow. Laura got an iced coffee because they just added it to the menu. It was pretty much coffee ice cream in a margarita glass. But still, it was one of the first cold coffee drinks we’ve seen since we’ve been here! We then left Barrique and went to Locanda for dinner. Usually at Locanda when they serve us pizza, we all get our own pizza. But tonight, they only brought us one slice at a time, called the “pizza parade” (what we called it) or “pizza fiesta” (what the Locanda workers called it). We had to wait about 15 minutes in between each slice and I was full after like 3 slices because the wait was so long. But usually I can eat my whole pizza in a few minutes! So the pizza parade is probably better for everyone…
After dinner, we went to the palazzo (our old studio building!) which is where the professors live now. There is a nice little chapel on the side of the palazzo, so Dr. Foster (my professor) and Phillipe (the painting instructor) wanted to invite us over for chapel. So that involved some singing, reading, and snacks. It was really great but we didn’t leave the palazzo until close to midnight!
