Day #83 in Orvieto

May 16, 2013 – Thursday

This morning we had our exam from 9-10:30 and it was really challenging/hard/difficult/etc. 50% of it was matching random things from Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso which could’ve been okay but it was one of those times when you start second guessing yourself on all the answers, then you change your answers at the last minute, and then after the test you look at your notes and realize you put the wrong answer! Anyways, that was me.

After the exam, we had about a half our to just hang out before we went down to the painting class to do our presentations for them. The painting students each had to paint a different scene from the Inferno, so we each gave a short presentation on how the subject of their painting also comes up in Purgatorio (because the painting class only had to read Inferno).  So that was fun because we got to see everyone’s final painting and they looked really good, as usual.

After class, we had a chapter meeting where we said goodbye to our professors that will be heading home either tomorrow or Friday, and we also said bye to everyone else that’s leaving to travel this weekend. The monastery is pretty quiet now because it’s just me, Jenna, Laura, Sara, and Karen!

Even though class is over, I still need to write my essay and submit it this weekend. So it feels like I’m on vacation now for the weekend because class is over, but I still have to do my essay! After everyone left after lunch, the few of us that were left came back to the monstery and we all took a nap for most of the afternoon. We were all so tired! Then I went down to the studio with Jenna and we painted for the rest of the evening before dinner. I’m a little bit jealous of the painting students because they get to be in the studio all the time, so I’ve been trying to sneak down there and work on stuff too even though I’m not in the clas. Right now I’m working on another book project because Hannah taught us how to make some journals. So I’ve been cutting paper, painting book covers, etc. Anyways, it was nice to be in the studio again.

We had dinner, internet time, and then the four of us (Jenna, Laura, Sara) went back down to the studio to listen to music and paint for the rest of the night! And I worked on my essay for a while…
